Avocado-Serrano Salsa wins top prize
This avocado-serrano salsa is very tasty! OK – so the award it won was the food cook-off at an end-of-the-season little league team barbecue. No apologies though — that was a bonafide contest! and I was up against Annette’s amazing green chili! (really. amazing!) and it was an honor to win. This salsa is a crowd-pleaser to be sure. It’s always a hit. And it’s easy to make.
All the ingredients are in this photo
- avocados (5+) (DOUBLE EVERYTHING for more fun!)
- plum tomatoes (3+)
- red onion (1 small or 1/2 large)
- serrano peppers (3-4) (chopped fine/minced) ; ok to substitute or mix jalapenos ... still tasty!
- bunches of cilantro (1)
- limes (1-4) (or lime juice) ...to taste, and to balance heat (up to 1/4 cup -- as long as the tomatoes are plentiful to absorb... so it doesn't all go into the avocados)
